IWR1642BOOST: Does glass door cause multipath refllections?

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1642

Hi,

I am working on IWR1642 people count demo applications. I am having issues with multipath reflections in different setups. It is felt like whenever there is a glass door near the sensor setup, i am getting multipath reflections. I have followed the recommended tuning parameters given in pplcount_customization_guide. Also i read the details of sensor behaviour in drywalls and plastic in "People+Counting+through+Plastic+and+Drywall+and+Wood" guide given in industrial toolbox. But that dint help much regarding my query.

So if anyone there who has undergone the scenarios kindly help.

Thanks in advance,
Ha An

  • Hi Ha An,

In my experience, glass can create some pretty nasty ghosts when using the people counting demo.

My recommendation would be to first map the area where you expect to see the reflections. Since these reflections are associated with the door, these reflections should (hopefully) appear outside of the scene. Once you know where the reflections are, you can configure the tracker to ignore points coming from the area where you expect to see the multipath reflections.

If the above solution is not possible, you may wish to analyze the points returned. Most likely, the multipath reflections will have lower SNR than the true detections - you may be able to filter out multipath based on this.
