FDC1004: measuring capacitor with not negligible dielectric loss

Part Number: FDC1004

Hi,

I'm having troubles measuring a prototype of capacitive sensor with not negligible dielectric loss: the measured value of capacity is really far from the value expected even if the measurement is reproducible.

Hi have not found any information about the ability of the FDC1004 to measure a capacitor with high dielectric loss (neither with high ESR) and I suppose this is the problem. I'd like to understand better the working principle of FDC1004 and for this purpose I measured the output of a sensing pin, seeing a sort of DC shifted 3 level alternated square waveform but really I can't understand how the capacity is obtained applying this signal... any help?

Thank you in advance!
