TDC7201: TDC7201 Question

Part Number: TDC7201
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC1000

Hi Team,

my customer is studying TDC7201 for distance measurement, and below are some question after study datasheet,

  1. Will ToF Still be calculated if STOP pulse less than #NUM_STOP (DCx_CONFIG2) , for example if NUM_STOP=2 but actual STOP pulse only output one.
  2. What is the period of INTB be generated after last STOP signal received. (TDC-GP2 had define this timing in datasheet) and what TOF value be settle down after INTB generated.
  3. Is Calibration2 total measuring CLOCK periods should large than last STOP pulse?
  4. In multi-cycle averaging mode, what is TRIGGER output periods?

Thanks & Regatds

Eddie

  • Eddie,

    1. The device will wait until the expected number of STOP signal is received and only then will calculate the ToF.
    2. It takes a few clock cycles post the last expected STOP signal for the INTB signal to toggle, we do not have exact time for this in our spec.
    3. Yes the Calibration2 total measuring CLOCK periods should large than last STOP pulse.
    4. After the start new measurement bit START_MEAS has been set in the TDCx_CONFIG1 register, the TDCx
generates a trigger signal on the TRIGGx pin, which is typically used by the corresponding ultrasonic analogfront-end (such as the TDC1000) as start trigger for a measurement, it is typically greater that the START period and needs to be minimum 5ns before START signal.
