AWR1642: AWR1843 A/D max sampling rate and resolution ?

Part Number: AWR1642
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843, IWR6843

Hi

I have some questions regarding the A/D of AWR1843 and IWR6843 mmWave Chip since both of them are compatible.

1) What is the correct maximal sampling rate? As in "AWR1843DeviceErrataSiliconRevision1.0" it says that max. sampling rate is 25Msps (real) and 12.5Msps (complex). However in "AWR18xx/16xx/14xx Technical Reference Manual (Rev. C)" unter "3.1.1.1 18xx introduction" it says that max. sampling rate is 18.75Msps. Which info is correct?

2) Is the max. sampling rate dependent on A/D resolution? I.e does it always have 25Msps(real) for all A/D 12-,14-,16-bits ??? If not, how is the dependency between max. sampling rate and A/D resolution?

Thanks very much for helping me with above questions.

Best regards,

Le

  • Hi Bien,

As specified in the respective device datasheets:

    1. The max complex and real sampling rates for both IWR6843 are AWR1843 are: 12.5Msps Complex and 25Msps Real respectively. I've added our automotive team members to comment on the difference in the specified max sampling rates between the AWR1843 datasheet and AWR1843 TRM.

    2. The max sampling rate is not dependent upon the A/D resolution. It

  • Hi Nitin

Thanks very much for the fast reply.

Just one more question about the reply:

"2. The max sampling rate is not dependent upon the A/D resolution. It ......."

Is the answer complete? since it feels like there's also a second sentence here.

    Thanks

    Bien

  • Hi,
It's 12.5 for complex and 25Msps for real. And it doesn't depend on number of bit.
