AWR1642BOOST: Target Detection at Long Range Operation

Hi Guys,

So I understand that to run the:

  1. mmWave Demo Visualizer, you would need to 'burn' the .bin files onto the EVM Hardware
  2. Short range radar lab, you would need to 'burn' the automotive .bin file onto the EVM Hardware.

My Question is, To perform  the long tests as shown in Figure below, where do I find/create the .bin files to 'burn' to the EVM and which configurations do I use - for example the demo uses mmWave Demo Visualizer 2.0.0. So for my long range tests, which interface do I use?

    For additional clarity, how do you define long range in your situation? For the AWR1642BOOST, the maximum range we are seeing on this device is about 80 meters.

    You can use the SRR visualizer and the chirp configuration that is designed for up to 80 meters. There is also a configuration that allows up to 120 meters. You can use the MATLAB GUI that is included in the SRR demo folder of the automotive toolbox.

    The maximum range that you can achieve using a stand alone AWR1642BOOST EVM would be in that 80-120 meter range.

    If you are looking to achieve even longer range, you will need to consider using a different platform. You can use the AWR1843BOOST EVM to achieve up to 150 meters and for even greater distances, you can use AWR1243 in a cascaded implementation.
