Linux/IWR1642BOOST: evm

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843, IWR1642, IWR1443

Tool/software: Linux

hi

i have purchased iwr1642boost evm for my autonomous navigation application in robotics. which package i have to download and build in my workspace and which sdk version i need to flash in my evm?

  • Hi Shann,

As mentioned in the release notes for the Autonomous Robotics Lab, this lab requires either an IWR1443 or an IWR6843 EVM. The Autonomous Robotics lab needs 3D point cloud (i.e. azimuth and elevation) which is provided by IWR1443 or IWR6843 EVMs. IWR1642 provides only 2D point cloud (azimuth only, no elevation information) so it cannot be used with the Autonomous Robotics Lab.

Also note that you will need a Turtlebot 2 to run this lab as mentioned in the user guide.

    (Ref: Linux/IWR1443BOOST: ROS Navigation issue).

If you only want to visualize the IWR1642 point cloud with ROS, you can use the ROS Point Cloud Visualizer Lab. Detailed instructions are included in the release notes and user guide provided with this lab.

    Thanks

  • hi

    please see this link: .

it is mentioned both 1443/1642 EVMs can be used for autonomous navigation.

also we have developed hardware model for UGV. i cannot use Turtlebot 2. for the developed hardware, we tested for tele operation using ROS by publishing topics. how to interface with 1642 ?

  • Hi Shann,

This appears to be inconsistent information on the above page and we have taken an action to correct it. The Autonomous navigation demo works with IWR1443 or IWR6843 EVMs only as it requires both azimuth and elevation information. The IWR1642BOOST EVM provides only azimuth information as mentioned earlier so it is not compatible with the autonomous navigation demo.
