AWR1642: Sensor doesn't work.

We use the AWR1642 on our PCBA. We can connect the AWR1642. When send the config data the message show Calibration Status= 0x3fe.

And the left bottom figure didn't show the horizontal line in the circle. Compare with AWR1642Boost the message is 0x7fe.

I have no idea where there is problem with AWR1642.. I use 5V 3A adapter.

Hi,
Can you make sure that both of the devices contain same BSS firmware version in the MetaImage flashed to it?

Hello,
We download xwr16xx_mmw_demo.bin the same with AWR1642Boost.
I have no idea AWR1642 not workable.

Hi,

The message "Init Calibration Status" provides the value returned by the Calibration Init function call.

Please check in the Code what the value means

We check the calibration status. We find our PCBA board calibration status is 0x3FE.

It means RX gain calibration is not enable. Do you have any idea RX gain calibration not

working?

Hi Cesar:

We are doing our PCBA board. Encounter this problem.

We measure the voltage associated with 1642 and the AWRboost board is close to.

We don't know why 1642 not working.

Hi,

I understand that you developed a customer board with AWR1642. When you run the OOB demo on this board you get 0x3FE calibration result.

Did you observe this behavior on a single silicon or with several silicons?

Hello Yau,

Are you supplying the RF supplies with 1.0V or 1.3V? Can you tell us what voltages you are seeing on the RF supplies and the 1.8V supply? I am assuming this is not an intermittent issue and happens every time across all of you boards?

Are you able to use the board with mmWaveStudio?

Are you able to provide a block diagram or schematic of you board?

Hi Adrian:

I measured the relevant voltage as follows

1.8V=>1.18V

3.3V=>3.31V

PMIC1.2V=>1.17V

VoutPA=>0.96V

1.3RF2=>1.32V

1.3RF1=>1.32V

Vout_14APLL=>1.443V

VBAP=>0.9V

Vout_14SYN=>1.434V

We mount 1642 on glass and use FPC connect to PCBA.

These voltages are measure on the glass.

We think these voltage value like the AWR1642boot board.

We have no idea why the 1642 didn't work.

Hello Yau,

Those voltages all seem correct. Can you probe 1.3V, 1.8V, 1.2V and 3.3V supplies during the 'sensorStart' API and see what is happening to these voltage rails? Also, can you post the oscilloscope shots during this step if possible?

Since you have a host board connected to the AWR1642 via FPC connector, please probe as close to the AWR device as possible. The decoupling caps are usually a good place to probe.
