IWR6843ISK: some questions on I2C、PMIC、60 PIN CONNECTOR

Part Number: IWR6843ISK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVEICBOOST,

Hi,

My customer have a set of IWR6843ISK+MMWAVEICBOOST, now  they want to make their own IWR6843ISK board.

Their questions are as follows:

1.They  want to get rid of  temperature sensors, current sensors and EEPROM on their IWR6843ISK board, will this affect communication with MMWAVEICBOOST?

2. They intend to use their own power supply scheme instead of TI's PMIC, Is this method feasible?

3. They want to supply IWR6843ISK with 5V voltage separately without using the 5V of MMWAVEICBOOST,is this OK?

4. They don't need as many LVDS channels and DP[15:8], can they remove the connector J2 in the figure below?

If they don't need this then they can take it off, the communication is on the I2C lines and it should be fine

Customer has to make sure the power requirement are adhered to. Please see datasheet

You need a host or emulator connected  to the IWR6843ISK to get the data out

    yes.

  • Hi Charles,

Thank you very much for your reply!

But I don't understand your reply to the third question, as you can see from the images below, although MMWAVEICBOOST leaves  a 5V PIN through the 60 pin HD connector, but the 5V voltage of MMWAVEICBOOST  is only used by itself and  IWR6843ISK don't use the 5V voltage.

  • Hi,

That is right, the ISK voltage nodes are not connected to the 5V rails. If you application also does not require 5V it is okay to leave it out.
