AWR1243: TX Signal Coherency

Hi,

I would like to confirm if the AWR1243 transmitted signal guaranteed to be coherent? That is, does it guarantee there is NO phase fluctuation between each transmitted chirps and from frame to frame?

Hi,

For the AWR1243, we do not guarantee absolute phase from frame to frame.

Hi Anand,

A follow up question. Would the AWR1243 then guarantee IQ balance after the mixer? That is, the phase components of the mixers in the two LOs in sine and cosine have absolute phase or no phase jitters?

Hi Anand,

We are asking all these critical question in the AWR1243 for target Angle of Arrival calculation accuracy reason. If there is imbalances in the phase components within the RX channel or across the 4 RX channels, we would like to know. The previous question I asked was on the TX and you told me no guarantee absolute phase from frame to frame. What I am asking now is the on RX channels.

Hi Khai,

Our IMRR is 30 dB - this answers your question on the IQ imbalance.

For the angle of arrival calculation, the inter-RX phase mismatch should be within +- 3 degrees.

Could you refer to section 5.7 of the AWR1243 datasheet for these numbers, and let us know if this answers your questions?
