IWR1642BOOST: the detection of ghost

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST

Hi, When I wave my hand in position 1 in the picture , but the iwr1642boost EVM return many points not only in position 1, but also in position 2. I'm sure there is nothing in position 2. How can I do to resolve this problem? Thanks

  • HI, Wenhao:

    It could be due to multi-path reflection and there is no one easy way to filter out all the multi-path reflections.

    If you know all the interested action will be in the close range, then you can ignore all the detection that is beyond certain range;
    If you know there is a wall on some angle, then you can consider filtering out the detection that is located behind the wall;
    If you only interested in the detection above the floor, then you can consider filtering out the detection that is below the ground;
    and etc.

    Sometimes, the multi-path reflection is weaker and phase changes a lot over chirps, you can use it as well;
    In addition, you can use the upper layer module like a cluster or tracker to help. Usually the multi-path reflections are less stable and jumping around in location;

    As a summary, there is no one easy way to deal with all the multi-path reflection. You have to be creative to fight them.

    Hope it helps,
    Zigang
