TMP451: Could we use NPN with TMP451?

Part Number: TMP451

Dear Team

I am using TMP451 in current project,

from the reference design , the PNP is used for temp sense.

My question is that could we use NPN instead?

If yes, how should we design the Sch?

If no, do you have recommend part for PNP?

thank you

  • Hi Eric,

Either NPN or PNP transistors can be used, as long as the base-emitter junction is used as the remote temperature sense.

NPN transistors must be diode-connected as well.

As far as your schematic, you will want the Base connected to D+, Emitter connected to D- and Collector connected to Base.
