using ppcount lab (long range) with IWR1648

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, IWR1642

hi ,

i used your matlab code for ppcount and translated it to python - so i could use it on raspberry-pi 2 REV B (WORKS PERFECT), BUT i have some issues trying to increase the range of the lab for more then 6 meters...

i changes the original 'SceneryParam -6 6 0.5 6 ' in the default config file to something like SceneryParam -10 10 0.5 10 but when im using it (even  in your matlab code) it always has the limit of this 6 meters...

what i need to chane more in the .cfg file to get it work? dose this firmware of ppcount i put (using uniflash)  is limited to 6 meters?

i tried to look at the ppcount long rage and try to copy from there what i can but its still dont work , and i cant buy ,at the moment, IWR8643 to use the ppcount long range lab. i need to use the IWR1642.
ANY HELP CREATING THE CORRECT .CFG FILE?

  • Hi Oren,

There are two limitations to detection distance on the lab.

    1. Which you have identified, the SceneryParams which limit where clusters may be tracked.
    2. The physical range of the chirp.  To increase the range, you have to change the profile config. Please see the 14 meter chirp configuration available for the IWR1642 on TI Resource explorer.

    Regards,
