OPT3101: Is there example arduino code for the OPT3101?

We have an SDK written in C++ that we have ported to MSP430, raspberry pi, windows, and linux. This SDK provides code for register access on the device as well as a number of higher level functions for configuration (using our configuration tool you can download online) as well as calibration.

I am not sure if this will run out of the box on arduino as we have not tried this. The SDK, because it is not specific for a platform, does have an i2c function that you fill in to tell it how to do an i2c read and write with the device library (in this case arduino), but then abstracts all the details so it is easy to read and write registers after this.

Hi Joshua,

In order to get distance readings from a new board you will have to run some calibration. Without at least calibrating out the crosstalk on the device the distance readings will be very noisy and only work for quite high amplitude readings. Without doing phase offset calibration the distance will have a random offset (so 1m could read any number due to the offset not being calibrated).

Wanted to check a couple things

- Have you seen our bring-up and calibration doc online? This describes a quick bring-up process you can follow to get some basic calibration and then check distance readings like you mentioned. It is here: www.ti.com/.../slau791.pdf

We actually have a version of the SDK that we complied on raspberry pi. If the version online does not compile out of the box and you would like I can provide this version to you.

Hi Jo,

We will be updating the SDK with an improved version which has better embedded support, although this will not be specific to Arduino or Raspberry pi. However there are some key changes planned so that it makes it to integrate in to these platforms easier. The release is expected with in the next 2 weeks.
