MMWAVEICBOOST: Some questions about the D1 part of the MMWAVEICBOOST

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVEICBOOST

To whom it may concern:

My mmWave sensor starter bundle (mmWaveICBoost+IWR6843ISK) is not working.

The problem was that  the D1 part of the mmWaveICBoost have dropped off and we powered up the board for  about 2 hours with 5 Voltage.

Things went strange at first as the computer can receive the message of the board, but it can't work 2 hours latter.

After that, we welded it on the board. However, it still can't work, the computer can't rec

We also tried the step of XDS110 and it still can't work.

So this time we want to know more information about D1 ,please tell us. Thank you.

  • Hi,

How did this diode drop off? What was the power source a lab voltage supply or wall wart?
Please see schematic of the MMWAVEICBOOST in the product page. D1 is the TVS diode on the voltage input.

  • Hi Charles,

I 'm really glad to receive your reply.

    1. The D1 just dropped off when we opened the box

    2. The power supply is 5V, 3A

    3. We measured the  both side Voltage of D1, it is about 5.3V (just same as the power supply). Is this right?

    4. Because the DS3 was always Red which showed the HW error in the  device. So we also measured the PMIC(U4) according to the document post on TI. However, the voltage is not correct.

We also measured the voltage between J5(5v) and J6(GND), the number was just 0.1V.

We guess there must be something wrong with the D1 or the hardware. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you!

  • Hi,

    1. When you say can't work in the first post, what does that mean?
    2. Are you seeing the COM ports when the device is connected?
    3. What error do you get when you try to flash it?
    4. Is the SOP mode set correctly when flashing?
    5. After power up are you pressing reset switch as needed?

Please provide some more details on working vs not working.

  • Hi,

I assume this was resolved. Closing the thread due to inactivity
