TMP451-Q1: THERM pin and ALERT pin state control using I2C

Part Number: TMP451-Q1

hello

Is it possible to control the state of THERM and ALERT pins?
are they set/cleared by event occur/ reading register only?

The system needs a very good redundancy so what i want to do is to check if the pin state is falsely fixed to low or high due to device failure.
If these pins states are controlled by I2C (like GPIO) the system can check device's fault.
