HDC2010: hdc2010 RH% out of spec

Part Number: HDC2010

Hello Sirs,

We have accuracy problem for HDC2010 and we refer this post.

e2e.ti.com/.../774178

1.Looks like it is necessary to calibrate RH value by offset register for each PCBA,right ?

If yes,  my question is this is not flash/eeprom base will lose data when power-off .

2. Refer to this guide. Will the HDC2010 RH function/accuracy permanent damage even if we remove those chemistry material ?

Many thanks !

  • Hello Sirs,
    One more question is
How to determine HDC2010 RH accuracy +/- 2% and 3% max ? Under what kind condition and equipment ?

    TKS !
  • Dear Terry -
If the methods in the handling application note, you should not have much of an offset. As these are not typical types of semiconductors with regards to the fact they are open devices - a development cycle should plan for and include checking/characterizing the first batch of boards (some might know this as first article) to know what the impact that the assembly/manufacturing has on the system, to know if any offset is needed, which could apply to all the units.

With regards to testing - you would need to work with a test house that has a temp/humidity chamber and precision references. As I see you are In Taiwan, perhaps you could check locally with companies like Sporton, ETC Taiwan, or get a chamber from a place like Taiwan Nakazawa - further - companies like Foxconn in mainland PRC do this kind of testing as well.
  • Hello Josh,

    Many thanks your reply !

Yes ! Due to this sensor is open case so that need to take care handling issues .

Is there more information how TI warranty RH% 3% max before taping reel ship to customer ? This is customer want to know .

Would you also reply this question ?

Will the HDC2010 RH function/accuracy permanent damage even if we remove those chemistry material ?

    Many thanks !

  • Terry -
    1. We do wafer probe and final tests on all the devices which have test limits that are based on device characterization and verification/validation that occurs prior to parts being released to the market. (this is part of our development process) - The parts that pass these tests fall within the specs of our datasheet, so they are shippable and we would follow our terms and conditions of warranty found in the datasheet (this is true for any TI part)

    2. If the sensor did not recover on its own, it is possible to attempt to use the heater in the device to outgas any VOC's or contaminants that are on the sensor - to see if it could recover - this is a feature of the HDC2xxx devices. But recovery would depend entirely on the exact situation encountered - there is no guaranteed recovery from exposure, just some steps that can be taken to attempt to mitigate.

  • Hello Josh,

Got it and many thanks your support !
