IWR6843ISK: The problem about the accuracy of people counting demo running on the IWR6843

Part Number: IWR6843ISK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVE-SDK

Dear Technical Support,

I am running the labs015 people counting on the iwr6843isk and I have some related questions:

1.It can't detect people while the people is sitting with slight move

2.Once the people was detected, the circle disappeared soon if the people hasn't move strongly.

3.Which kinds of factors cause these abnomal performance?

The EVM was placed at 1.7m high, down tilt about 10 degree.

  • Thanks for your support.

    Best regards.

    Howie.
  • Hi Howie,

You will likely need to "tune" the sensor for your specific environment. I'd recommend looking at the customization guide available in the docs folder of the People Counting Demo.

If you are concerned about static objects then I'd recommend ensuring Static Clutter Removal is turned off.

  • Hi Akash,

    Thanks for your reply.

Receiving your suggestion,I  have changed the stataparam in the config.I increased the value of 'active2freeThre' and decreaded the value of 'det2activeThre' .But the situation didn't become better.I would like to ask you for some specific way to improve the accuracy.Which kinds of details about my specif enviroment can I provide?Hope to receive your help. Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Howie,

One recommendation I'd make is to lower your CFAR threshold in order to ensure more points are detected.

As per my previous post you should disable Static Clutter Removal. Can you confirm you have done this?

Instructions for both are available in the mmWave-SDK User Guide.
