IWR6843: the difference between iwr6843isk and iwr6843isk -ods

Part Number: IWR6843

hi, Mr or Mrs

Thank you for your support.

I have the device iwr6843isk now. I want to use the demo people count to get 3d point cloud for every people. I find that the demo lab20 overhead people count and lab25 people count all use device iwr6843isk-ods.

1. I want to know the difference between iwr6843isk and  iwr6843isk -ods? or the advantage and disadvantage of iwr6843isk and  iwr6843isk -ods respectively?

2. The 6843isk could be used in the demo lab20 overhead people count and lab25 people count replace iwr6843isk-ods?

Best regards,

Zhen

  • Hi Zhen,

    1. IWR6843ISK and IWR6843ISK-ODS are two different antenna plug-in modules based on the IWR6843. The difference between the two modules is the antenna design and specifications namely: FOV and angular resolution (azimuth and elevation) and max bandwidth for the antenna. Please check the corresponding product pages listed below on TI.com

    IWR6843ISK antenna specification:

    60- to 64-GHz mmWave sensor
4 receive (RX) 3 transmit (TX) antenna with 108° azimuth field of view (FoV) and 44° elevation FoV

    IWR6843ISK-ODS antenna specification:

    60-GHz mmWave sensor
Four receive (RX) three transmit (TX) antenna
    120° azimuth FoV
120° elevation with approximately 12-m range

    2. The IWR6843ISK cannot be used in lab20 (overhead People counting) as the angle of arrival code is different between the two labs pertaining to the different antenna designs of the two antenna modules.
