IWR1443: How to flash new IWR1443 module from scratch?

Dear Sirs!

Possibly silly question.

We are making own PCBA board with IWR1443, where new IWR1443 chips will be used.

Do you sale them pre-programmed? Or we must burn an image first? Which image do you recommend to burn first to make first start?

Which interface must be used? IWR1443 SPI with proper combination of SOPs onboard? We must add this interface to PCB design.

Hi,

Flashing the board is done using UART, you will need UART RX, TX, SOP lines (0,1,2) and NRST. I also recommend adding test point on the JTAG lines for debugging.

XDS110 Jtag debug probe can be used for flashing the board

Lastly, the out of the box demo provided in the SDK can be used for board bring up and initial test.

So, just to confirm:

1. Each IWR1443 from stock has bootloader section, right?

2. To make IWR1443 (not IWR1443Boost) working we must connect it to PC by UART , with proper SOP settings and send Radar image by UNIFLASH tool?

We have some questions because in IWR1443Boost board IWR1443 chip does not have direct link to USB, USB is connected only with TM4C1294NCPDTT3 processor. And it makes us confusing about how to burn IWR1443 directly

Also is it possible to burn Radar software image (level_sense_demo.bin) directly to the Flash memory using SPI-programmer, for example common MOD-CH341A ?

Hi,

UART is the only supported mode for flashing the onboard SFLASH at this time.
Please note that the serial flash is needed as the binary is actually loaded onto this not on the chip.
