AWR1843: MRR demo radar distance error

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843, AWR1642

Hi,

I try to use your mmwave_automotive_toolbox lab07 MRR demo to see the performance of awr1843.

However, when I set a strong reactant at position ( x, y) = (0 m, 4.3 m), the MRR result shows about -1.2 m error on x. (like the image below)

I also use your mmWave visualizer to test either awr1843 board broken or not.

The result of mmWave visualizer is correct, so I think my awr1843 board is working normally.

So my question is how to fix the MRR demo to get the correct distance data from awr1843 ?

Thank you.

  • Hi,
What do you mean by reactant? Corner reflector?

    -Raghu
  • Hi,

    Yes,the corner reflection.

    Thank you/

  • Hello,

It looks to me like either your environment isn't clean . Have you done the same test in any anechoic chamber ? That would give you a cleaner test environment with just the corner reflector as your target.
Also can you confirm if you are doing any calibration?

    -Raghu
  • Hi,

I also do the other test. I walk around the corner reflection, and the MRR demo result show about -1.2 m  error on the x-axis. ( like the video below)

    AWR1843 :

And I also do the same test on awr1642 SRR demo. The result is correct.

    AWR1642:

On MRR demo, I use the pre-build binary from the mmwave_automotive_toolbox_2_4_7 / lab0007.

    Thank you.

  • Hi,

    Sorry for the delay

Please perform calibration of the antenna

    thank you
