AWR1642: Output power b/w AWR1243 and AWR1642

Part Number: AWR1642
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1243

Hello Support team.

I found that there is a different output power b/w AWR1243 and AWR1642.

AWR1243 output power is 12 dBm.

AWR1262 output powre is 12.5 dBm.

Old documents have same value 12 dBm at both AWR1243 and AWR1642.

I would like to know the reason why output power of AWR1642 has been changed.

And I would like to know the impact of this different. For example, measurement distance etc.

  • Hello Koro,
Inherently both the devices have similar RF configuration and similar o/p is expected from both. The datasheet mentions typical values and since there would be variation from devices to device ( a spread) there could be a slight difference in the value measurement for a particular device.

  • Hello Vivek-san

Thanks a lot for your quick reply.
It is very helpful for me.

    I understood.

And the below point, I would like to know.
I would like to know what point is different between 12dBm and 12.5dBm as output power.
I believe that it may be different measurable distance.
    Is my understanding correct ?
And is there any other different points ?

  • Hello Koro,
That is correct, a change in TX o/p impacts the detectable range.
But like I said, 1243 and 1642 TX o/p performance is similar.
