IWR6843ISK-ODS: To use IWR6843ISK-ODS with main_pplcount_viz.exe

Part Number: IWR6843ISK-ODS

Hi Technical Support

I tried to use IWR6843ISK-ODS with main_pplcount_viz.exe installing on the ceiling.

"main_pplcount_viz.exe" is following places.

C:\ti\mmwave_industrial_toolbox_3_3_0\labs\lab0020_pplcount_Overhead\GUI_B_gui_filteringLogic\

But, it seems to be irrelevant whether I'm  standing or sitting.

I input 1.7 for standing distance because, my height is 1.7m.

Are there any other parameters that can be changed, such as the height of the ceiling?

  • Hi Takeo,

Please ensure that the device is mounted at 3 meters. Please set the height threshold to be less than your height - fr 1.7 meters, I would recommend a setting of 1.4, so that there is some room for error when the device calculates your height. currently, you cannot change the mount height.

    Regards,
    Justin
  • Dear Justin

    Thanks for your supports.

I would like to install the device on a ceiling height 2.6m and, more under.
    Then, how do I ?
Should I set it even lower than 1.4?

    Best Regards,
    Takeo
  • Hi Takeo,

The gui will calculate the height as the mounting height (3m) minus the closest point to the device associated with the target. So if the person is 1.7 meters tall, and the device is at 2.6 meters, the highest point will have a y coordinate of 0.9, 3 - 0.9 will give 2.1 as height, so by lowering the device the user gets "taller". This means the threshold should be raised if the device is lowered.

If the device always detects you as standing, just lower the threshold, and try walking in a small circle under the device (radius 1 meter is a good way to start).

    Regards,
    Justin
  • Dear Justin

Thank you so much for the easy-to-understand explanation.
By raising the threshold, Gui identify "Standing" or "Sitting" well.

I am grateful for your support and quick response.

    Best Regards,
    Takeo
