LDC1101: Does This IC Output Counts Per Second

It's unclear to me if this IC can be setup over SPI to output a counts per second for example if an inductive proximity sensor is used to count rotations on a shaft. Really all I care about is sensing an inductance change above a threshold, counting it over a specific time period, and returning that value to computer RPM.

The LDC1101 can be configured to have a switch output based on a programmable threshold. The MCU could then count the pulses of the switch output to achieve the functionality you are looking for.

If this were to be done over SPI, then the inductance value would have to be manually read and the MCU could process the data to determine when the threshold is passed. The SPI speed would need to be faster than the rotation speed so that pulses are not missed.
