AWR1843BOOST: How to obtain the radiation pattern of the antenna (far field information)

We are trying to simulate the 1843BOOST and require the radiation pattern of the antenna (far field) to have a beam as close as possible to the actual antenna in order for the simulation to be as close as possible to reality. One recommendation is to get the ffd file from TI, but that is not available as per TI support. What is the best way to obtain that data? Thanks

Hello Fahed,

If you want to do antenna simulations you will need to obtain the design files from the product page and then import the design into the simulation software.

Thank you Adrian. I have checked the design files and I could not see any hint that points me to the far field information. Would you be so kind and point me in the right direction (file names, file extensions ...etc)? By the way, my software uses ffd file for radiation pattern, but there might be other ways to export data to an ffd should other formats exist. Thank you again.

I am using ANSYS Electronics Desktop, and I believe ffd stands for far field data, and it is basically a text file that contains the beam measurements at certain frequencies.

Thanks, we should be able to generate the ffd file for you. Can you let us know which center frequencies you need this generated for? Also, which antenna combinations do you need this generated for? i.e. one for each TX and RX or for a certain set of TX/RX pairs?

Hello Adrian,

That is wonderful. As per what I know, the frequencies that should be the edges and the middle (76GHz, 81GHz and 78.5 GHz) and the software will do the interpolation for frequencies in between. As for which antenna combination I will get informed and get back to you on that.

Which is the same for the Tx and the Rx function.
