Hello,

A feature of mmWave sensors are their robustness to adverse environmental conditions including heat, dust, lighting conditions (too bright or too dark). In this way they could be appropriate. However please note that their is a limit on the operating temperature of the sensor. Please refer to the data sheet of the device you're interested in.

Hi amanda,

Our end application is a fire detector. the operating temperature of the mm-wave sensor is almost equal to the sensors which we are using in the product. Our concern is, the sensor could be able to detect humans behind the fire and smoke environment?.

Hello,

Please see these experiments to understand sensor performance in smoke-like environments: . Testing in true fire with smoke conditions has not been conducted but the principals of mmWave sensing suggest that it could be feasible.
