DCA1000EVM: Data acquisition

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642BOOST

Hi,

I am in need of raw data received by all the four Rx antenna in AWR1642boost EVM that can help me in beamforming. Does DCA1000EVM provide the raw data before down conversion? If yes, what will be the maximum sampling frequency.

Thanks,

Vinod

  • HI,

The DCA1000 provides the ADC data after the sampling is completed

    thank you
    Cesar
  • Hello Vinod,
Could you allobarate on what you mean by "data before down conversion" ? All the raw Rx data as captured from the ADC is available over the LVDS interface which can be captured using the DCA1000.
Are you trying to do Rx beamforming ? From the capture data you can get the phase and amplitude information which can be used for beam forming.

    Regards,
    Vivek
  • Thanks for your clarification, Cesar. Since ADC follows the down conversion step (i.e., multiplying the received signal with the transmitted signal that is commonly performed in CW radar), we obtain the IQ data using DCA1000. We can perform beamforming on the IQ data.

    Best Regards,

    Vinod

  • Hello Vivek,
In AWR series of Radars, as I understand, the received signal from the antenna is first multiplied with the transmitted signal to bring down the signal to the baseband. This is commonly performed in CW radar. ADC follows this down conversion step. The output of ADC will be captured using DCA1000 as you and Cesar have rightly pointed.

Thanks for confirming that beamforming can be performed on the acquired complex data.

    Thanks,
    Vinod
