AWR1642BOOST: Obtaining real time raw sensor data from this module

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM,

Is there a reference or tutorial on using these modules for real time raw data?
We have only managed to obtain processed data (object recognition) which is useless.
Is this module meant to be a development kit or simply a demonstration?
Where is support for the minimal, basic radar module so we can design
our purpose specific module around the TI mmwave parts?

  • Dennis,

If you are looking to capture and analyze raw ADC data, then you will need to the use the DCA1000EVM that is compatible with the AWR1642BOOST EVM. The quick start guide for the DCA1000EVM will walk you through the steps for capturing raw data using our mmWave Studio tool.

With the AWR1642BOOST EVM, this by itself can be used as a development kit and for demonstrations. The limitation on the AWR1642BOOST EVM is its use of UART to send out data. Due to the bandwidth limitation for UART, only post processed data can be sent out. If you are looking to send out larger amounts of data using LVDS, then you will need to leverage the capabilities of the DCA1000EVM.

You can purchase a DCA100EVM from the online TI store.

    Regards,
    Kyle
