PGA970: Few questions

Part Number: PGA970

Hi Team,

Quick questions.

1. Is PGA970 only requires MSP430 level MCU to process algorithm? OR at least ARM M0 is needed?

2. When doing 3-wire and 6-wire LVDT, do we have separate C code demo code?

3. What is the major difference btw 3- and 6- wires LVDT?

Thanks a lot!

Andrew

  • Hello Andrew,

    1. The PGA970 has an integrated M0 core for temperature and nonlinearity compensation.

    2. The M0 only deals with the digital output of the ADC which will be the same range regardless of whether the input is a 3 or 6 wire LVDT

    3. The main difference between a 3 wire and 6 wire setup is that a 6 wire LVDT allows you to use differential inputs to the PGA970, while the 3 wire will use single-ended inputs. The differential inputs will have better noise performance.

    Regards,
