AWR1642BOOST: Multiple targets detected when there is only one target.

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST

Hi,

I have a small coke can attached to the ceiling by a very thin fishing wire (attached image - diameter of 5cm and 7cm height ) and I am swinging it back and forth in the direction of the radar. I have also clicked the Additional processing box to cancel out static clutter. I am also using the mmWave demo visualizer record - to save the data in a csv file.

When I view the results, I see there are a maximum of four targets detected -

Experiment1.xlsx

How come I get a total of four detected targets on a small can?

  • Hi,

Additional reflections can be due to multi path reflections.

    Here are some recommendations

    1) Repeat the experiment in an open area to avoid multi path reflections
    2) Repeat the experiment with a different metallic object. A metal plate, or something that is not round

    thank you
