HDC2010: Skin moisture sensing

Part Number: HDC2010

Hi,

I have a medical application requiring sensing moisture levels on human skin using a patch.  Would an HDC product be a suitable technology for this application?  Please provide some insight into the pros and cons if an HDC sensor is used.

Thanks

the HDC devices are not specifically rated (by TI) for skin contact in a medical application - they would need to be tested by the developer/integrator and probably to the standards set forth by the applicable regional medical authority (in US for example this would be the FDA)

From my observations, these sensors are also weak proximity sensors, I think due to the nature of the technology used (i have not looked into this deeply - this was just side observation i made which made total sense to me, since these are based on capacitance measurement) - this will need to be accounted for, too.

at any rate, i can't guarantee these will work in that application, but I don't see a reason why they would not be reasonable to try it.
