Dear Technical Support,

I want to get raw data which are recorded into a file using your Demo Visualizer GUI (Out Of Box demo) but in a real time manner as you do when plotting your curves but here with another plot chart type I built on my own based on the raw data coming from the file so in a post processing manner and not a real time manner which would be much better.

The issue is that the COM ports are busy when I launch the Demo Visualizer GUI preventing me from reading the raw data in a parallel way and using a python script for example.

Please could you advise on that?

Hi Anthony,
There can be two option to your requirement

1. Modify the mmWave Demo Visualizer to add this feature by your own. These links may help you to add new plot

2. If planning to use Python to read the UART for object data and process/plot
- Don't use Visualizer.
- Use Python itself to send CLI command over 'User/Application COM port' at 115200 baud rate, you need to read 'profile_2d.cfg' and send each command at a time, wait for 'DONE' reply till next command.
- After all the CLI cmd is sent over one COM port, object result data will be available at other COM port at 921600 which you need to connect from Python and read all the data.
- Now here you can do the processing of the data as you want.

Hi Jitendra,

I have just compared the 2 files:

1 - the file recorded using "mmWave Demo Visualizer"
2 - the file captured in a log with tera term software

I use same "profile_2d.cfg" in both cases with only <log magnitude range> as plot type

Result is that I can't get the synchro word 0x0102030405060708 in 2 - case.

Is the "mmWave Demo Visualizer" doing some additional formatting I should be aware of?

Hi Anthony,
Visualizer does basic conversion of received data whichis further stored to file (when you click record), that is the reason you see different data at these two steps. Refer the Visualizer source code to get to know this conversion and other info.

And make sure that you capture the data at 921600 baud rate from Auxiliary COM port.

Sorry for late reply.

You must receive the "magic" word "0x0102030405060708" independently of which utility you are using to receive the UART stream.

If you don't receive the magic word there is something wrong in the way the utility captures the UART stream.
