DRV425: what is min magnetic field can be detected?

Part Number: DRV425

What is min magnetic field B or H can be measured for DRV425?

I would like to know if you have any other similar sensor chip which can be used to detect very lower, such as 0.05mT range's magnetic field?

Thank you

steven

  • Hello Steven,

This is more dependent the bandwidth you need as the noise become a factor when measuring low fields.  You also need to take into account everything outside that can cause a magnetic field when measuring low fields.  Such as components like resistor and capacitors that may have magnetic materials and can become magnetized.  Earths magnetic field which is in the 60µT range.  The DRV425EVM is setup with a 5V supply to be about 400µT full scale range.  Change the resistor to make it a smaller range.

You will need to calibrate the offset of the DRV425 which is max of 8µT.  And the noise I mentioned depends on the bandwidth you are attempting to measure.

See this post regarding bandwidth and noise.  https://e2e.ti.com/support/amplifiers/f/14/t/606174
