OPT101: Pulse oximeter design

Part Number: OPT101

This is in reference with the following TI design manual:

In experiment 1 (measurement of oxygen saturation in blood), they are using leds pulsed at 100us which means at 10kHz frequency. Now,the OPT101 ic has a bandwidth of 14kHz. Hence it should produce an output which is a photoplethysmograhic wave(PPG) having frequency of 0-20Hz enveloping pulse signal of 10kHz. But the figure 1-28 shows output of OPT101 as a PPG signal with no pulse frequencies. Also, the frequency of the PPG shown is around 5kHz, observing the horizontal y-axis. Normally PPG signals are 0-20Hz. Why is it not so here? And how did OPT101 filter out the 10kHz pulse signals?
