CCS/IWR1642BOOST: outside devises radiate on IWR1642BOOST at the same frequencies

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

hi ,

did you check if other devises that radiate at the same frequencies  of the radar ,affects bad on the operation of the radar ?

all the best

  • HI, Oren:

For FMCW radar, the chirp frequency changes with a constant chirp slope.

    1) If this other device is not having the same slope or it is constant frequency, then it may cross this desired chirp and create a very short glitch in time domain.  This glitch will increase the noise floor of the received signal, and may reduce the sensitivity level of the device.    It is possible to detect the location of the glitch and try to cancel it.   But if you do not do anything, then the sensitivity level of the device will be reduced.

    2) If the other device is also a FMCW radar with same slope, then the possibility for them to collide each other is very small, because their chirp starting time has to be very close to be able to been seen (falls into the IF band of the victim radar).   But when it happens, it usually affects the whole chirp, and the best way is to detect the event and discard the results.   Otherwise, you will get false detection.

    Best,

    Zigang
