AWR 1842 radar data format for 3 tranmsitters enabled.

Hello

I am using AWR 1843 with 3 transmitters enabled. I had gone trough the data format of radar data captured using DCA1000 which I was using for data capture in my experiment with 1843.

In document the non interleaved data formats are explained with respect to one transmitter . My queries are

1. Whether 1843 is using MIMO radar using TDM .

2. If so how the data will be stored in .bin file and how to extract it.

3. One question wrt isReal flag.. How this can be configured in configuration.

Please provide a reply as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

Let's make sure we understand your queries so that we can improve the documentation.

I think you are referencing the following document:

    C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_00_00_02\docs\mmwave_studio_user_guide.pdf

    Is this correct?

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Hello Resmi,

In addition to Cesars comment, can you also clarify what you are referring to in regards to the 'Real flag'?

Are you using mmWave Studio or the SDK for data capture?

This document may be a good starting point for learning how to extract the .bin file data and process it:

  • Hello Cesar,

I had gone through the mmwave_studio_user_guide.pdf as well as swra581b.pdf  , But I couldn't find the explanation on ADC radar data for more than one transmitter.

If I need to process the ADC data further, I need to have an understanding on how the data will be arranged for >1 transmitter configuration.

So please help me on this.

    Thanks and Regards

  • Hello Adrian,

Even I had gone the document you mentioned. On page number 16, one variable 'isReal' has mentioned. My query was wrt that flag.

How this can be set ( deciding whether real or complex output).

Are we setting this output data format whether real or complex ('isReal) using 'format' tab shown in above figure (mmWaveStudio). ?

    Thanks and Regards

    Resmi

  • Hello Resmi,

You can select real or complex data in mmWave Studio in the 'Format' drop down menu in the image you have posted. The 'isReal' is just a flag used in the scripts that needs to be set to '1' if you have captured real only data. If you have captured complex data, the isReal flag should be set to 0 in the script. The scripts are not at all related to mmWave Studio, they are just example scripts that can be used to help post process data that has been captured in mmWave Studio.

The number of TX should not change the format of the data. The format of the data will only change based on the number of RX enabled and the number of LVDS lanes enabled.

    Regards,

    Adrian
