AWR1642BOOST-ODS: Is the sensor a good choice to use it underneath the car to detect static object under the car and incoming object entering underneath the car?

We want to set AWR1642 Boost-ODS underneath the car to detect object. Any incoming object entering the car or static object under the car should be detected while the car is parked. Is it possible to detect with this radar module?

Hi,

I assume you are also planning to use the Obstacle Detection Processing chain provided in the following lab:

mmwave_automotive_toolbox_2_4_7\labs\lab0003_occupancy_detection.

Detecting static objects lying on the ground will be challenging because of the reflections from the ground. You may have to do some experiments if you have a board. We have not tested this use case

Thanks for your reply. I have read the above mentioned processing chain. But my confusion starts after reading one comment from the forum. Can it detect moving object also? Or do I need another Module for detecting both the static and moving object?

Hi,

The ODS processing chain will detect slow motion. As the speed motion increases and is getting closer to maximum unambiguous speed the detection performance will decrease.

We have not done additional analysis for detecting moving objects with ODS processing chain.
