IWR6843: Questions about IWR6843AOPEVM

Part Number: IWR6843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1843AOP,

Hi,

I`m so interested in IWR6843AOP and production ready module.

I found the related EVM :

http://www.ti.com/tool/IWR6843AOPEVM

It seems its board design is by Mistral. Now some questions:

1. I believe this EVM have not been certified by Japanese radio regulation (TELEC). Correct, right ?
2. I believe TI will not provide production ready module for any customer. In this case, which company is responsible for production ready module ? (Mistral ?)
3. Can TI provide the details of antenna specs for us to pass a certification from local Radio Act if we would like to desire our own module ? If yes, which document should we refer. Datasheet ? Do you have any specific design guide ?
4. Do you have a plan to release 79Ghz variant AoP module ? Say, IWR1843AoP ?

Hope your quick reply.

Best Regards,
NK

  • Hi,

This has been referred the marketing team, they will get back to you.

  • Hi NK,

    1. That's correct, this EVM is not certified TELEC, same as other mmWave EVMs
    2. Correct, TI is silicon supplier and will make silicon available when in production to all customers.  For off the shelf modules, we recommend engaging with one of our partners.
    3. Antenna spec is captured in the IWR6843AOPEVM User's Guide.  Additional information required for certification can be provided on a case by case need
    4. We are unable to comment on TI's roadmap information and strategy through E2E forum.  To discuss TI roadmap, please reach out to your local sales office and they can help with roadmap questions.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Artem,

    Thank you for your reply.

As for 2, what options are available for AoP module provider ? I believe the one is Mistral, but how about others ?
And as for 3, it is required to have some contracts between us, such a NDA, if we need further information over published document for the certification ? If yes, should the contract related process be handled by TI-Japan ? Or by you directly ?

    Best Regards,
    NK

Please search for mmWave 3rd party designers in the link below

Please contact a local TI  sales representative regarding the NDA.

  • Hi Naoki,

Feel free to reach out to Mistral and D3 Engineering.  Both have demonstrated a module on IWR6843AOP during CES 2019.

Other vendors are working on modules, but have not currently announced publicly.  A list of such vendors will be available on TI.com/iwr.

    Thanks,
