AWR1443: ETSI EN 302 264 4.3.4 Unwanted emissions in the out-of-band domain failed

Part Number: AWR1443

We are developing RADAR boards using AWR1443 chips and are in the process of CE certification.

We have failed in the test. (ETSI EN 302 264 4.3.4 Unwanted emissions in the out-of-band domain.)

As shown in the figure below(Figure 1.), the OOB frequency range is F1 ~ fL and fH ~ F2.( Refer to ETSI EN 303 396)

The values fL and fH are the results of the operating frequency range conformance test.

The figure below(Figure 2.) shows the results of a measurement that determined the FL and fH using 99% OBW function.

Eventually, the power was high in FL and fH, resulting in a failure in the OOB range( F1 ~ fL and fH ~ F2).

I think the problem would occur unconditionally, because of the fmcw modulation properties.

If you have any experience with the esi en302 264 test(CE certification, please let me know how to solve this problem.

  • Hello Jake,

Yes we have experienced this issue. Presently the way the OBW is speced its impossible for anybody to pass the OOB spec. This feedback was provided to the EN working group and they would look into updating the standard appropriately. Meanwhile the test house negotiated with the EN working body to use  -23dBc below reduction in power to define the OBW , ie the point where the power reduces by 23dB , after that point the OOB specs need to be met.

I suggest you have a discussion with the test house regarding this and they can also approach the EN working body on this.

    Regards,
    Vivek

  • Hello Vivek,

Thank you for the quick and good information.

Our test house is requesting some information. Can you provide the following information?

    1. What is the notified body that TI has discussed?
    2. If possible, can you send me the report that was processed after consultation?

In our test house, check Notified Body that is already in progress and ask for confirmation as it will be a good way to proceed.

And it is worried that Other Notified Body might refuse to change the test method.

    Regards,

    Jake ahn

  • Hello Jake,

We had worked with UL labs in US and they directly contact the notified body. The vendor is not allowed to contact the body directly, so we do not have those communication details. But the test house should have the details.

    Regards,

    Vivek
