AWR1642BOOST: Can I change the operating frequency in program?

Hello everyone, 

As you know, TI DemoVisualizer provides two operating frequency bands: 1) 76-77GHz and 2) 77-81GHz.

For our case, We would like to use AWR1642BOOT and AWR1843BOOST in different operating frequency bands. In that respect, we have created a new configuration, which sets start frequency to 77GHz with 1GHz bandwidth. We were able to start the sensor with our new configuration; however we have noticed that start frequency of AWR1642 has not changed it to 77GHz after we run chirp analysis in our spectrum analyzer.

 So our question is:

  1. Can those boards only support operating frequency bands: 1) 76-77GHz and 2) 77-81GHz or select one of them as default?
  2. Is there any way to modify operating frequency bands, e.g. modifying firware etc.?

    The starting frequence of the chirp is configurable. What do you mean by "default"?

    If the intent of the question is to modify the operating frequency to a different band, such as 72GHz or 85GHz. This is not possible. Only 76-81GHz are supported

     Thank you for your answer. As I understood, we can modify the operating frequency as long as we are in 76-81 GHz band.

     For AWR1642, the related command for start frequency is that one: profileCfg 0 76 444 7 48.98 0 0 15 1 256 6250 0 0 30

    With that configuration, AWR1642 operating frequency is 76-77GHz. 

    We wanted to have same 1GHz bandwidth but different starting frequency. So we changed the "profileCfg" to: profileCfg 0 77 444 7 48.98 0 0 15 1 256 6250 0 0 30 and start the sensor. Sensor started successfully.

    However, when we carried out the spectrum analysis, we noticed that start frequency of the device has not changed, still 76GHz.

    So is there any way to set operating frequency to 77-78 GHz?

    The configuration used is correct. You should be able to see 77GHz start frequency of the ramp.

    profileCfg 0 77 444 7 48.98 0 0 15 1 256 6250 0 0 30

    Can you also try the following?

    profileCfg 0 78 444 7 48.98 0 0 15 1 256 6250 0 0 30

    Please also double check the spectrum analysis
