IWR6843: Maximum distance coverage

Hi Chloe,

I have been trying to achieve 98m person detection configuration using mmWave Sensing Estimator. I am able to configure it till 81m.

But when I used "chirp configuration parameters" created in mmWave sensing estimator and load them through configuration file using mmWave demo visualizer, I received error as "Error: Incorrect config reported by target. Hint: Change configuration and try again". I have modified profile_2d.cfg from mmWave SDK 03.01.01.02(only profileCfg and frameCfg)

Where am I going wrong?

Have you tried manually entering your configuration to the visualizer?

I have tried by sending the configurations using Tera-Term. I am getting the following error:

If you are referring the way to configure using options given under "Configure" tab then it is difficult to get the same configuration (to achieve required result) which I got using mmWave Sensing Estimator.

We can achieve Max. distance for people upto 98m using IWR6843ISK. I am trying the same using mmWave Sensing Estimator but unable to achieve the same result.

Since the configuration obtained from mmWave Sensing Estimator may not work, can you please share the configuration tested to achieve the detection upto 98m?

I have 2 questions:

1. Do you mean to say the configuration which I got from mmWave Sensing Estimator will work on DCA1000EVM and mmWave Studio, but won't work with Out-of-Box demo?

2. As mentioned earlier in this thread, I am unable to set configuration for person detection upto 98m from mmWave sensing estimator. Can you share the tested configuration?

Thanks for your response. I will definitely try these configurations with mmWave Studio. But I still have some doubts on the issue I have raised for maximum range of IWR6843ISK:

1. If not all configurations works with mmWave out-of-box demo and mmwave demo visualizer, what is the maximum distance can be achieved or observed using out-of-box demo and IWR6843ISK EVM?

2. I think there are limitations/threshold already set for chirp parameter values in TI out-of-box demo. That's why mmWave sensing estimator values won't support it. If so, can you share information on such thresholds/limitations?
