OPT3004: Power up to conversion time too long

Part Number: OPT3004

Hi, team,

My customer is using OPT3004. with configuration register set to be 0XC490. CT=100ms. I2C clock 100kHz.

After power up 3.3V, the output data becomes stable after about 350ms. Below is time frame tested. After configuration, CPU performed for cycle to read out data output.

This time is too long for customer, is there some way to shorten it? Thanks!

  • Hi Nicole,

Thanks for the detailed question. Which period are they trying to shorten? Why do they need to wait 350ms for the output to stabilize? According to the waveform it seems data is ready from the device 101ms after config. Are they using the INT pin to indicate data ready? Fastest way to read from OPT3004 is to use INT pin for conversion complete using the end of conversion mode. This way when INT goes high the data is stable and can be read. It would be good to have clarification on the 350ms since that seems too long to wait.

    Best,

    Alex
