IWR1642BOOST: Update old revision to work with newest SDK

Team,

my customer has an older chip/EVM revision that only works with SDK 2.x and thus only with demo visualizer 2.1.

Is it possible to update the firmware of the IWR1642 to a newer version to work with the newest SDK?
Or is this a hardware revision and they need a new EVM?

Hi Franziskus,

The IWR1642 is only compatible with mmWave-SDK 2.1, it is not compatible with SDK 3.x.x or later.

The SDK 3.x.x and later are for IWR6843 and AWR1843 devices.

Is there any way to make IWR1642 work with Demo Visualizer 3.2.0?
If I go to the online version of mmWave Demo Visualizer, I can select xWR16xx, but it only gives me the option to choose SDK version 3.2:

The answer was: This is correct the IWR1642, IWR1443 for mmWave-SDK 2.x versions should instead use the Demo Visualizer 2.1.

I am a bit confused why Demo Visualizer presents xWR16xx as an option to choose here.

Thank you for pointing this out but your first assumption is correct, for the IWR1642 you will need to use the older visualizer.
