IWR1443: Software examples in latest SDK

Hi mmWave team,

It appears as though the latest SDK is including fewer examples for the IWR1443. Our customer has worked with SDK version 1.2 and 3.2.

Is there any particular reason we're not moving the examples to 3.2? (Or are they moved somewhere else?)

Is there was for our customer to easily move them from the old SDK to the newer one?

Hi Darren,

Version 2.1 is intended for long-term support and is the latest compatible version for IWR1443 devices. There are several reasons for this which as discussed in this thread.

Hi Akash

We require features like cfarFovCfg,aoaFovCfg (Very much needed for our application) to filter out un-intended objects in FOV ( For a designed antenna azimuth and elevation radiation pattern).

If IWR1443 isnt supported in SDK3.x then it means we can not use these features or does it mean that these features are not supported by IWR1443 hardware?

Please clarify.

Hi Mahendra,

It means that these features are not supported because they are only supported by SDK3.x. If you'd like to discuss these features in more detail then feel free to open up a new thread.

Hi Akash

For one of my application, I need to use cfarFovCfg,aoaFovCfg to filter out un-wanted static objects for IWR1443 at specified distance and desired azimuth/elevation angle. Description of these commands are pretty clear in SDK user guide. Question is how to use to these commands or any equivalent commands to cfarFovCfg,aoaFovCfg for IWR1443 chipset.

Hi Mahendra,

These commands have not been tested or implemented on IWR1443 in any capacity so a custom function would need to be created but compatibility is not guaranteed because the IWR1443 is limited in memory and processing capability compared to devices supported by SDK3.2.

An alternative would be to use IWR/AWR1843 for this application as it is in the 77GHz band and supported by SDK3.2.
