I am new in the Texas Instruments mmwave radar sensors, so I would like to ask a positive question prior to making any purchase.
With my research team, we want to buy either one of the AWR1443BOOST (www.ti.com/.../awr1443boost) or AWR1642BOOST (www.ti.com/.../awr1642boost) evaluation modules. But, it is paramount for us to gain access to some kind (any kind) of raw data of the RF waveform that is generated at the output of the RF front end of the Rx. By raw data I mean a digitized waveform in the IF domain.
From my understanding, we need to also purchase the MMWAVEICBOOST (www.ti.com/.../MMWAVEICBOOST carrier card platform. I understand that this is a necessary add-on and the first step towards gaining access to the raw data of the sensor. Is this true, or are the MMWAVEICBOOST is not necessary in order to gain access to the raw data of the sensor?
From there on, I understand that the second step should be to also purchase the DCA1000EVM (www.ti.com/.../DCA1000EVM) data capture card. The AWR1642BOOST module should be connected at the appropriate plug of the MMWAVEICBOOST and then the DCA1000EVM module should also be connected to the MMWAVEICBOOST via a data bus. This way, one could gain access to the raw data of the AWR1642BOOST.
But my question is, what about the MMWAVE-DEVPACK (www.ti.com/.../mmwave-devpack). The latter's description says that it is also good for gaining access to the raw data. But what is its relationship with the DCA1000EVM module? Do we need both in order to gain access to the raw data? So, we need a total of 4 modules (AWR1642BOOST + MMWAVEICBOOST + DCA1000EVM + MMWAVE-DEVPACK)? Or is it that MMWAVE-DEVPACK and DCA1000EVM are equivalent, so we should only select one of them two? And if this is the case, maybe DCA1000EVM would be a better option if the price tag is not an issue?
So, in summary, my question could be: what kind of additional hardware do I need in order to get full access to the AWR1642BOOST raw data from the radar sensor?
- Just DCA1000EVM is enough?
- DCA1000EVM + MMWAVEICBOOST is ok? Do I get any more functionality compared to DCA1000EVM alone, and what might that be?
- DCA1000EVM + MMWAVEICBOOST + MMWAVE-DEVPACK?
