IWR6843: Is the cooling plate attached to AoP EVM necessary?

Team, 

we can’t fit the AoP EVM with its cooling plate to the mmWaveICBoost board, there is a collision with the other 60-pin HD connector on the Boost board.

Below picture with cooling plate attached (seen on the left side):

It's only when we remove that cooling plate when the two boards can fit together well:

Is it really necessary to have the cooling plate on AoP EVM attached?
