IWR1642BOOST: The point cloud data is reduced with a plastic housing in IWR1642BOOST

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1642,

Hi, TI E2E teams,

I used the Traffic Monitoring demo, I add a plastic housing in IWR1642BOOST, the point cloud data is reduced from IWR1642 data UART.

So I want to know how to configure the iwr1642 to avoid the problem?

Could you give me some advice?

regards

Eric

  • Hello,

A plastic housing, also known as Radome needs careful consideration for the mmWave Radar system.

There are many parameters which affects the Antenna Radiation pattern such as material type, Distance of material from the Antenna, thickness of the material. One need consider these details carefully to arrive at the Radome design.

Please refer below app-note "TI mmWave Radar sensor RF PCB Design, Manufacturing and Validation Guide" Section 5.
