DCA1000EVM: No Frame Config Information

Hi,

I have been trying to setup a DCA1000 with an AWR1243 mmWave radar but when I try to run the Post Proc part on the Sensor Data tab I get an error: No Frame Config Information. I also checked the DataCaptureDemo_xWR.lua file to see the settings and it is exactly what I have for mmWave Studio so I don't know why I am getting this error.

    Could you please run through the capture steps manually instead of using the DataCaptureDemo_xWR.lua file?

    You will need to configure the device through the Connection, Static Config, DataConfig and SensorConfig tabs at least.

    I initially tried running through the capture steps manually and I still got the same error. After that didn't work, I tried to use the DataCaptureDemo_xWR.lua file. The image I attached with the error on it does not use that file.

    The above three lines from your log shows that you have an AWR1243 ES2 device, but you are using the firmware included with mmWave Studio 2.0.0.2 which is for an AWR1243 ES3 device.

    The AWR1243 ES2 devices are supported using firmware provided in DFP 1.0 which is available here:

    Can you please download this version and try using the firmware files from this version?

    I guess this mostly solves my issue. But there is one more thing about mmWave Studio and that is after I click arm the DCA and Trigger Frame, the Post Proc button is gray and I cannot click on it to view the data.

    And also, what is the file format that the raw data saves as?

    I have the same problem with Wei-Lung: "No Frame Configuration Information" pops up when I hit the "PostProc" button. I have the Frame Configuration set up the exact same way as Wei-Lung.

    The Radar Studio Post Processing Window shows up but it is empty.

    "Resp Timeout" (see log) shows up whenever I press on PostProc. I wonder if Resp Timeout has anything to do with the fact that my FPGA version is displayed as "0.0.0.0" (how do I change it to the correct FPGA version?)

    I have Matlab Runtime version 8.5.1 installed; I clicked on the link provided in the mmwave studio user guide.

    Could you please raise a separate thread for your issue? The setup you have would likely be different from what Wei-Lung has and we will need more information to help you. So it is better to raise your query in a new thread with all details.

    Please include information on which AWR BOOST board you are using, and your entire mmwave studio log file.

    There are two different issues here:

    1) The RESP TIMEOUT error that you see - you get this error for almost every command that is sent to the AWR device. This usually indicates that the firmware version being used is incorrect, or that the SOP mode pins are not correctly set up.

    2) The 0.0.0.0 version number being reported by the DCA1000 - this is usually due to a firewall blocking the DCA1000 traffic, or due to an incompatible ethernet controller. It would be a good idea to either try on another PC, or use a USB3-to-gigabit-ethernet converter.
