Hi Team,

Customer would like to know the benefits & drawbacks as he select NPN compare to PNP?

I just know from DS description that N{N need with diode connected, PNP can be transistor or diode connected.

Benefits :

Diode-connected configuration provides better settling time.

GND collector-connected transistor configuration provides better series resistance cancellation

What's the drawbacks of them?

Hi Mark,

Thanks for doing your research before reaching out. What you mentioned above are the known benefits/drawbacks of using the two different BJT types. It is important to follow the recommendations in section 9.2.1 of the datasheet when using either an NPN or PNP transistor.

Thanks for feedback, I know the benefits show in 9.2.1, but didn't to show the disadvantage of NPN compare to PNP, so could you help to know that?

HI Mark,

There is no other disadvantage of NPN compare to PNP other than you cannot use it in the transistor configuration which could have better series resistance cancellation.
