HDC2080: Mixing several bus speed I2C device on same bus line

Part Number: HDC2080

Hi Team,

I want to connect Fast mode I2C device on I2C bus line which is connected to HDC2080.

Is it possible to connect HDC2080 to I2C bus line which is connected Fast mode(1MHz) I2C device also?

Let me know if there is any concern on the mixed condition.

Regards,

Takashi Onawa

  • Onawa-san,

I believe you are referring to Fast Mode Plus, which is the part of I2C spec which is running at 1MHz. I believe any I2C device will NACK (remain silent and leave SDA high) whatever came from Master that was at incorrect address. Further, both the address and the speed would have to match for I2C slave to ACK a command; therefore, it should not cause any issues. Fast Mode Plus masters are supposed to be downward compatible, too.

  • Hi Josh-san,

    OK, I understood.
