LDC1101: LDC1101 sensing range is too low.

I am using LDC1101 with a custom made sensor and board.

I have attached inductor and capacitor(LC tank) as the same as LDC1101 EVM board.

My sensor has the size of 60mm*60mm, which is much larger than the sensor on LDC1101 EVM board.

However, the sensing distance is much shorter than the EVM board.

My goal is to achieve 20cm of sensing distance, but at the moment, I can only detect up to 5cm.

What could be the problem?

    Hello,

    The maximum sensing distance for LDC devices is typically 50% of the coil diameter. With the LDC1101 in LHR mode you may be able to sense farther. A 60mm coil will absolutely not be able to measure a target at 20cm, regardless of the LDC device. Please see LDC Sensor Design for more information about sensing distance.
